These jars are exactly what I was looking for, to use for storing sour dough starter in the fridge. A dozen of these jars wasn't much more expensive than a single jar in a fancy bread making kit. The screw-on lids these jars come with are plenty robust. Note these wide mouth jars are a larger diameter than standard wide mouth canning jars so you will not be able to use these for standard canning applications, they are better suited for storage applications. Reading through reviews, there have been a lot of issues with breakage in transit. At checkout, it defaults to shipping in existing packaging. You can override and specify "Ship in Amazon Packaging" which is likely more substantial than the manufacturer packaging. That's what I did and I had no breakage so that's what I would recommend when placing an order.
